What is a Portrait?

A portrait tells a story. Portraits can show us what a person looks like, or how the artist sees them, but they can also capture an idea of a person or what they stand for. Portraits can also reveal how a person wants to be seen, and capture a particular attitude or mood that the sitter wishes to convey.
A portrait can do many things. It can give a sense of importance to a person and their life; it can make a person more widely known; it can also give immortality to a person’s character: portraits live on forever!

Dreams: Postcards
from the Soul
in the Hallway Art Space

June 21, 2025 - August 17, 2025
Closing reception August 17, 2-4pm
Dreams are postcards from our souls.
While we sleep, our dreams become passageways to other dimensions, where the soul roams free. When we wake, fragments of the journey return to our consciousness as visual imagery and symbolic language. They are keepsakes from our dream journey, postcards from the soul. In this exhibition you can see how artists capture their nocturnal visions and text and displaye it on postcards.
This collection features a series of visual imagery paintings, dialogue, poetry that explore the concept of dreams as messages-or "postcards"-sent to us from the depths of our own souls.
Each artwork serves as a visual representation of the subconscious mind, filled with symbols, emotions, and narratives that bridge the gap between the conscious and the unconscious.
