"To Survive is Victory" is the true account of living through the tumultuous changes that racked China in the 20th Century. Born at the time of the collapse of the first republic, Lin Xiangbei lived through the period of the war lords, the struggle for liberation, and years of violent internal upheavals instigated by Mao. Honored for his contributions to the new country, he was later accused of "Rightism" and sent to labor camps during the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution. The book is presented by Lin Ping, his daughter, who was translator and compiler of the book.
