About the event
Artigiani del Gelato are returning to Gallery 40 to take us on a journey in the coffee world. We will learn about the coffee birthplace, the coffee routes, the types of coffee and caffeine and how will drink it.
The main techniques: infusion and percolation;
Oriental coffee: the oldest infusion method;
The French press: the most popular method in Northern Europe;
The Neapolitan coffee maker: a ritual of slowness;
Filter coffee: the most popular coffee drink in the United States;
The moka pot: the Italian tradition of home coffee;
Espresso: the elixir of coffee.
We will show you how to make a few of these techniques and offer one of the oldest way of tasting espresso.... with a spoon of fior di latte gelato.
You will also be able to purchase gelato at the end of the talk.

Artigiani del Gelato is a local artisanal ice cream producer of fresh, genuine products made with authentic Italian recipes.
Mauro Sessarego is Italian born and raised and is the third generation that is involved in the restaurant industry. A professor at the acclaimed Culinary Institute of America since 1997, Mauro has taught several classes. In 2013, Mauro opened an artisanal gelato store in Rhinebeck, NY named “Artigiani del Gelato” (translation Gelato Artisan) where Mauro produced Gelato of fresh, local ingredients using authentic Italian recipes and by word of mouth became a must see and taste while visiting the Hudson Valley.
During the summer he supplies the gelato to farm stands such as Montgomery Place & Miglierelli, using their fruits and turning it into luxurious gelato and sorbet; at Farmer’s markets in Millbrook every Saturday and Garden St market in Poughkeepsie every other Sunday .

Mauro has a wholesale business supplying gelato direct to restaurants, has worked with the local CSA program in Irvington and Philips Manor, NY, and supplies the neighborhood through the “Gelato of the Month Club” where he is proud to share the authentic genuine artisanal gelato.
